Workers' Compensation & Employment
Since being admitted to Florida Bar in 2001, Ms. Byrer has practiced in the areas of workers’ compensation defense, employment, business and liability law. Prior to joining Boyd & Jenerette in 2009, Ms. Byrer was the Managing Shareholder at another Jacksonville law office for eight years. She is rated AV by Martindale Hubbell, its highest rating.
Over the years, Ms. Byrer has represented numerous insurance carriers and third party administrators including AIG Claim Services, Associated Industries Insurance Company, Amtrust Insurance, Publix Risk Management, Specialty Risk Services, State of Florida Risk Management, John’s Eastern, Ameritrust, Meadowbrook, Gallagher Bassett Services and Broadspire.
She has also represented numerous Florida employers such as Baptist Hospitals, Northrup Grumman, Publix, Smurfit Stone and University of North Florida.
Ms. Byrer is a committee member with the Jacksonville Humane Society, and volunteers for Habitat for Humanity, North Florida Leukemia Society and Muscular Dystrophy Association. She has run the National Breast Cancer Marathon twice and often participates in road races or triathlons that benefit various charitable organizations.

Publications and Seminars
Ms. Byrer is an active writer and lecturer. She published “The Florida Workers’ Compensation Tight Rope Challenged” in the ABA/Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section Committee Newsletter in 2008. She also authored multiple articles in the Florida Workers’ Comp Reporter in 2004, 2005 and 2007 entitled “Florida Employers have Responsibility to Reimburse Medicare,” “Family Medical Leave Act and Same Sex Marriage Laws” and “2003 Legislative Changes and Impact on Insurance Premiums.” Ms. Byrer has lectured on behalf of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Florida Bar and at various Continued Education Seminars. She is a Certified Instructor of Insurance Education for the State of Florida and often presents seminars to clients.
