Bob Cole was sworn in as President-Elect of the Florida Chapters of ABOTA (FLABOTA)
On Saturday, July 25, 2009, at the FLABOTA convention at the Longboat Key Club and Resort in Sarasota, Florida, Bob Cole was sworn in as President-Elect of the Florida Chapters of ABOTA (FLABOTA). Mr. Cole will serve as President-Elect during 2009-2010 and will be sworn in as President of FLABOTA in July of 2010. He has been an ABOTA member since 1990 and has served as President and FLABOTA Board representative for the Jacksonville Chapter. Mr. Cole was the recipient of the FLABOTA Trial Lawyer of the Year for 2008. Bill Stone and Kristen Van der Linde of our firm are also members of ABOTA and the Jacksonville Chapter.

Jacksonville Bar Turns Once Again to Boyd & Jenerette to Fill Leadership Roles
The Jacksonville Bar Association has once again tapped two of Boyd & Jenerette's attorneys to serve as leaders of its workers' compensation section for the coming year. Blake Hood, a partner who served as co-chair of the section last year, and Mark Eckels, a shareholder who heads the firm's own workers' compensation department, will co-lead the section for another year. They assumed their leadership duties last month. The section is charged with coordinating local bar events that include CLE programs, meetings with area judges and mediators, and social events with members of the section. Work is already under way to plan an upcoming CLE event as well as hosting the Deputy Chief Judge of Compensation Claims. Linda Wagner Farrell, a partner in the Jacksonville office, has been named Woman Lawyer of the Year by the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association. JWLA held its annual judicial reception on June 5, 2008 where the announcement was made. The recipient is nominated and voted on by her peers. Ms. Farrell’s practice focuses on Workers’ Compensation defense. In addition to her busy law practice, she is active within the community through various volunteer opportunities and has been referred to as diligent, devoted, and a true joy to work with both in and out of the courtroom.

ABOTA is a national organization devoted to the preservation of the right to trial by jury.
