Boyd & Jenerette Partner Speaks on Acquiring Distressed Real Estate in Bankruptcy
On October 10, 2012, Ronald G. Neiwirth, head of the Boyd & Jenerette practice group which includes Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights, presented to the Alliance of Corporate Real Estate Executives and Specialists (“ACRES”) on the acquisition of distressed real estate out of bankruptcy.
Mr. Neiwirth handles bankruptcy proceedings and the full range of insolvency matters locally, and throughout the United States, on behalf of foreign liquidators. He has extensive experience in the areas of Chapter 11 reorganizations, Chapter 7 liquidations, real estate workouts, debtor-in-possession financing, cash collateral stipulations, bankruptcy litigation and international insolvency proceedings.
Mr. Neiwirth represents a diverse group of clients, including publicly and closely held companies, bankruptcy trustees, official and unofficial creditors' committees, secured and unsecured creditors, as well as investors of assets and distressed companies, claims purchasers, and financial institutions.
Boyd & Jenerette Partners Participate in North American Notarial Forum
On April 26 & 27, 2012 Boyd & Jenerette Partners, Ronald Neiwirth (A Florida Civil-Law Notary and head of the Insolvency & Reorganization practice), and Carlos Aguilar (head of the International practice), participated in the North American Notarial Forum, held at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida. Mr. Neiwirth is a director of the National Association of Civil Law Notaries (“NACLN”). He has been a Florida Civil-Law Notary since the specialty was first created by Statute in 1999. Mr. Neiwirth presented on Civil-Law Notarial Ethics, comparing ethical regulation of Florida lawyers serving as Civil-Law Notaries, with the ethical standards established by the Union Internationale du Notariat (“UIN”). He also participated on a panel discussion of Notarial ethics with eminent notaries from other countries.
Also in attendance were Florida’s Secretary of State, Ken Detzner; the President of the UIN, representing 81 countries which utilize civil-law notaries; as well as a number of other prominent notaries from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Morocco, Argentina, France, and Quebec.
The Civil-Law Notary is, generally speaking, a highly-trained attorney who is able to authenticate and certify documents and facts, as well as prepare transactional documentation, which will be generally accepted in other countries which utilize the Civil-Law Notarial concept.

Ron Neiwirth, Partner at the Miami office of Boyd & Jenerette, will be speaking at the Bankruptcy Legal Assistants Association (BLAA) about international bankruptcy and Chaper 15 cases. The event will be held May 17th, 2012 at the Banker’s Club.
BLAA is a networking and support organization of Legal support staff in the specialty of US Bankruptcy Law. Their monthly meetings keep them up updated on the latest changes in Bankruptcy Law.

David da Silva Cornell is also joining the Firm as a Partner practicing in the Miami office. Mr. Cornell focuses his practice on Corporate Law, Domestic and Foreign Business Transactions, and Nonprofit Law. Mr. Cornell has extensive experience with the legal systems, cultures, and business practices of Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, and East Asia (Greater China).
